DTC men's grooming brand. The work covered the full ecommerce SEO stack - technical, on-page, off-page, content strategy, and site architecture - with commercial-intent comparison and roundup pages driving most of the revenue. All through the AI search shift, while other teams were losing ground.

AI search visibility

Helping brands understand and improve how they show up across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google's AI Overviews now appearing at the top of search results. The industry is calling this Generative Engine Optimization or Answer Engine Optimization (GEO and AEO if you like acronyms). Different game than ranking on page one - most teams haven't caught up yet.

Custom tooling and automation

I build the tools I need to do the work. Some turn into products. Most stay internal. All exist because something off-the-shelf didn't.

Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina. Doing SEO since 2006 - first on my own projects, then for other people. Independent consulting since 2012. Currently between Prague, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and wherever the wifi is decent in Southeast Asia.

Past life includes co-founding and exiting Gearhead Media and Lemur Bags (both sold in 2022). Now splitting time between consulting work, building CartImpact, and trying to keep up with what AI does to search every other day.

Also working through a technical AI safety curriculum on the side. Mostly because mechanistic interpretability is the most interesting thing I've stumbled into in years. Partly because if the search box is going to hallucinate, I'd like to know why.
